World Cinema focuses on screening the best films from all over the world produced within one calendar year before the festival dates. These films are screened in a non-competitive format.

All awarding winning and critically acclaimed films screened in other Film Festivals are invited for this section. Commercially successful films and big productions from all countries are also invited for screening under this section. The aim is to bring to the Indian Film Industry professionals and viewers in general the latest global trends in film making.

The films screened in this section are eligible for AUDIENCE CHOICE award (approximately US$ 20,000 and Silver Gateway) and MUMBAI YOUNG CRITICS award (Silver Gateway).

Chairman of MAMI Mr.Shyam Benegal, Trustees of MAMI and Festival Director Mr.Shrinivasan Narayanan invite films to participate in this section. They are advised by a panel of film experts, programmers and overseas advisors in selections.
