Rashmi Lamba

Since her first experience in 1977 as a Student Volunteer at the International Film Festival in Mumbai, Rashmi has worked in varied capacities at the Toronto International Film Festival, Hot Docs, Dubai International Film Festival and the Middle East International Film Festival in Abu Dhabi. She has held positions as Industry Manager, Special Industry Events Producer, Industry Lounge Manager, Industry Initiatives Facilitator, Senior Festival Producer, Jury Wrangler and Media Relations Coordinator. 

While living in the UAE, Rashmi was one of the founder members of the Dubai Media City. She initiated the first WIFT  (Women in Film & Television) Chapter in the Middle East and at the two International Film Festivals in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, facilitated local and regional film industry participation in liaison with ‘Dubai Film Connections’ and ‘The Circle Conference’. She has produced high-profile Industry panels and workshops and coordinated a LIVE televised debate on MOST (Muslims On Screen & Television) with the Saban Centre at Brookings Institution, USA. 

Rashmi started her career in 1978 at Doordarshan and has since produced and directed for international production companies, global television networks, advertising agencies, multi-national corporates and set up her own independent film production companies in India, UAE and Canada. As the Mumbai Film Festival gets underway, her latest documentary, ‘Begumpura’, commissioned at ‘Hot Docs’ by OMNI - Rogers Media, will premiere on the network across Canada.

Rashmi came on board in 2010 as Manager of the Film Business Centre, renamed in 2011 as the Mumbai Film Mart (MFM).

A graduate in Social Communications Media, Rashmi started her career in 1978 at Doordarshan and has since produced and directed documentaries, television programmes, commercials and corporate films for international production companies, global television networks, leading advertising agencies and multi-national companies. She has set up her own independent film production companies in Mumbai, Dubai and Toronto. Her latest documentary, ‘Begumpura’ (The Wives Colony), commissioned at ‘Hot Docs’ by OMNI - Rogers Media, is currently being aired on the broadcast network across Canada.
